We’re Number 1! We’re Number 1!
Posted February 2nd, 2006 at 11:08 AM by Jeff A. TaylorOnce again Charmeck tops the North Carolina tax list. That is five years in a row for the Queen City. Talk about consistency.
The new John Locke Foundation By the Numbers report puts Charlotte’s tax burden at about $2,185 per resident for 2004. And guess what? Since we’ve raised taxes since then, the number is even higher today. Yippee!
Among the 26 cities with populations over 25,000, Charlotte had the highest combined city-county tax and fee collections per capita. Wilmington, Asheville, Durham, and Chapel Hill were also in the top five. The lowest per-capita collections were in Jacksonville, followed by Thomasville, Goldsboro, Kannapolis, and Rocky Mount.
The overal local tax burden as percentage of income also continues to grow, up to 5.90% in Mecklenburg for 2004 from 5.75% in 2003. That is exactly what you would expect from our current tax-and-spend leadership.
Ever get the feeling nothing is going to change until taxpayers get sick of this business?

Unfortunately, I can’t say Charmeck has less of a problem when you at the quality of services received for those tax dollars. Let’s see, high tax burden, increasing crime rate, questionable schools, roads in ever worse shape…

Michael and Jeff, Charlotte’s ruler’s priority is having a “world class city” though the use of Smart?Growth policies. Absolutely NOTHING will be allowed to stand in the way of their quest!! As Agenda 21 is a world-wide quest coming from the corrupt, anti-American United Nations, and Pat McCrory is a big
supporter through his diligent work with the US Conference of Mayors.
Everyone who reads this should visit the website of the US Conference of Mayors, and begin to expose
Mayor Pat’s secret life. A few weeks ago, on his program– Agenda Charlotte, Mayor Pat stated that his favorite book is George Orwell’s “1984″, and that he referred to it frequently!! With that bit of info it tells us our mayor’s mindset!

See, the key to understanding Pat is that he thinks everyone else does not understand what is going on, that they are being manipulated by WBT and Rhino Times and Locke Foundation propaganda. Only he, Pat McCrory, modern gnostic, has access to the truth.
He absolutely thinks he is Winston Smith, fighting the good fight against the Powers That Be, secretly knowing he’ll cave at the slightest opportunity. But.
We. Get. It. We know.
And that is Pat McCrory’s Room 101.

[...] Servatius tried to lead them to the answer, citing new Locke Foundation research that once again placed Char-Meck’s tax burden the highest in the state — by far. Yet that undeniable fact still does not click. “No, any way you look at our taxes, they aren’t high. We have a very fair tax base in Mecklenburg County when you compare services,” one Chamber of Commerce official tells Servatius. [...]
