Support Government Motors!

It is amusing to me that the Left is surprised — even a little outraged, natch — that there is blowback against the government takeover of GM. We are not even supposed to much notice or care when actual fascism comes creeping across the land.
But there is no way on Earth you could sell a shirt with fasces on it. You’d have to answer a billion questions about it, starting with how to say it.

I got a huge chuckle from the commenter calling people fascist for NOT supporting GM now (and maybe that was what you were referring to). Hilarious.

No, I completely missed that one. It is just that were to look to Italy of the 20s and 30s for a historical, textbook, peer-reviewed definition of fascism, you’d come up with big corporations, labor unions, and the government controlling and operating industries like car manufacturing.
GM is well and truly a fascist operation. It cannot fail, it does not answer to market demands and signals, so it is not capitalist. All that we need for some government official to announce that GM will build a “people’s car” and the circle will be complete.

Yeah, I always get a little more of a kick than I should out of telling people about how fascist we’re becoming. But it’s a good opportunity to educate them on what the word really means, and the history behind what we’re trying.

GM to build ‘Volkswagen”’s????
June 9th, 2009 at 10:23 am
Just what will a Obamamobile look like?
June 9th, 2009 at 10:49 am
So if GM is the new Volkswagen, does that make Obama the new Hitler?
GM is dead to me. (I owned a Geo once upon a time, but that’s the extent of my involvement with GM.) I am recommending to everyone that they avoid “zombie corporations” which have been taken over by the government and/or the unions. If you ignore them, they will diminish in importance and eventually, they will go away.

Over the weekend, elections to the European Parliament resulted in a sharp turn to the right. This was blamed in part on public disgust with the bailouts and stimulus payments of their respective governments. Do you think that might augur something similar in US midterm elections next year?

Chris, that’s what I am hoping. I’ve been saying since even before the Messiah was elected that if he was elected, his and the Congress’ combined stupidity might be enough to cause the country to shift back to the right, as happened during the Carter administration.
For this to happen, though, we need for average Americans (i.e., not foaming-at-the-mouth liberals) to get angry and stay angry about what’s happening. The Tea Party movement was a good start, but we need sustained and growing disgust about the direction the country’s heading in.

I love my GM car, it gets 30mpg hwy, has 250hp, and will cruise over 100+ just the same as 60. To bad they are going to kill it.
