What is Henk Jonker Up To?

More specifically, how is newcomer Owen Sutkowski paying him?

Jennifer Roberts routed almost $20K to Jonker last year as her campaign manager. Where is a Queens University grad student getting that kinda coin? Or.

Sutkowski’s campaign will more than pay for itself by drawing out new contributors eager to support an openly gay city council candidate while elevating and trial-ballooning the issue of domestic partner benefits.

Bonus Observation: Who is Sean Wagle and what is the Recruit & Compete PAC? Formed last month with $200 from Wagle, a business analyst with Bank of America, the stated goal is to “encourage new Repub. candidates to file and campaign.” Wagle contributed $300 to Ron Paul in 2007, according to Fundrace.

They’ve also written “Mecklenburg county” instead of “Mecklenburg County”.

    Several unnecessary commas, too.

Oh Dears. First of all–it is HENK JONKER not Jonkers. And Jennifer’s campaign routed precious little to him over the last five years. But that is another story. What you don’t know is that we work largely FOR FREE. We get paid only during campaigns and not during the years when there is no campaign–but the work goes on–24/7. What makes you think that Owen is paying him the same for a City Council campaign as Jennifer Roberts paid him to run at large for the entire county? You are making many suppositions which are erroneous. You know, sometime, we political types WORK FOR FREE or for very little. But I guess you don’t want to think about that, do you…that the County and its residents may be getting something for nearly nothing–and at times(most of the time)for NOTHING. We work on campaigns because we love it and it flexes our mental and creative muscles in a way which our day jobs may not. AND we believe that this is a way in which we can serve our community. Henk and I , both, have been a bargain for the County–we haven’t taken one red cent from the taxpayers and we serve them everyday. And this is true of others who do what we do–on all sides of the political spectrum but no one is interested in what we do–whether we are Republican, Libertarian, Independent or Democrat. It ain’t sexy. It doesn’t bleed or lead. We just serve because we think that it is an honorable thing to do. Please pull your dresses down over your heads and have a little respect for people who offer to serve the public. It is thankless and pays crap no matter what party you affiliate with. There is not always a conspiracy. Sometimes people just want to serve their community–like Owen. And Henk.

Please stop being so freaking cynical. You do NOT have it all figured out.
