More Bev and 485

Posted March 23rd, 2009 at 5:21 AM by Jeff A. Taylor

I feel sorry for Charlotteans who voted for Bev Perdue, I really do. To watch her try to pull the tried-and-true with country bumpkins “promise ‘em the moon” routine with a $220m. urban loop has to be maddening for them.

Now Perdue has shifted ever so slightly off of her promise to start the last leg of 485 by the end of the year. Turns out it all depends on convincing the feds to send money to do the job. Oh. Really. Not much of a promise then, is it?

And you can already see the next phase of Bev’s spin in formation. Any more questions or complaints about 485 will be met with reference to the $4.5m. state bribe to GMAC in provide “jobs” in Uptown. Carrot-and-stick, people.

Works on the rubes everytime.

I promise to buy everyone in NC a steak dinner if someone else will PAY for it.

    Jeff,
I really believe the people who voted for her knew she could not do what she promised and the same is true for Obama. Her supporters just wanted another democrat in office. They do not care about roads, they care about entitlements..

I think we need to secede. Get all the counties between here and Asheville and declare the state of West Carolina or since we are on the border of SC secede and ask Mark Sanford to annex us. We could send our taxes to Columbia if they’ll start work on the outer belt.
