McCrory: Garage Band or Supergroup?

Posted February 29th, 2008 at 5:16 PM by Jeff A. Taylor

Well, well. Long time campaign aide Victoria Smith has left the Pat McCrory team. That didn’t take very long.

Guess Pat is gonna be spending money on big name consultants after all. I further guess sooner or later that will show up in the actual substance of his campaign. Right now, he is going in circles even with Jack Hawke calling the shots.

Meanwhile, which band member swap-up does this recall for you? Me, I have to go with Bruce Dickinson in for Paul Di’Anno. Like Smith, Di’Anno was fiery brawler who got by more on effort and grit than innate ability. Dickinson had seen what Iron Maiden could do and thought he could do it better than Di’Anno ever could.

He did.

Yeah, but Maiden screwed it up one album later by replacing the terrific Clive Burr with the less terrific Nicko McBrain.

How about Def Leppard replacing the elfin drunkard Pete Willis with pretty-boy Phil Collen at the dawn of the music video era?

  2. Jeff Taylor Says:

Ah yes, Willis was shorter than his guitar.

  3. Suzanne Stallings Says:

Making light of McCrory’s run for our governor, terrifies me!! He and Mr. Amnesty McCain, have some very similar ideas- all of which do not include anything remotely conservative!
